video Short video clip of our passage from Panama to Galapagos

sunset_towards galapagos

So we left Panama two days after planned departure time, as we didn’t have the maritime visa we were stuck in panama until the carnival festivities were over. We set sail the fifth of march and set course towards Galapagos. This is a 850 nm (nautical miles) passage which will take us across the equator and into the South Pacific.

In order to be allowed to enter Galapagos with a boat there are many rules and restrictions regarding the boats’ condition and several food and health regulations that we need to follow. So during the passage we were working on the final preparations which involved a lot of cleaning, especially outside and beneath the boat, removing barnacles, crabs and other things that start growing around the hulls. We stopped the boat after sailing 400 nm and Markus dived into the deep blue to clean the last parts and we discovered that we had company of two yellow finned tunas that swam with the boat for two days. Always nice with some fishy company=)!

Depending on our internet availability we hope to put up a couple of more posts from the passage, BUT here is a short video clip that we made from our journey. Hope you enjoy it!

Catch you later!
